Carver High School Is Subject Of Museum Exhibit In February
CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, VA – The Chesterfield County Museum will present an exhibit Feb. 6-28 about Carver High School, the county’s only high school for black students from 1948 until 1970. Carver was housed in the building that today is Chesterfield Community High. The exhibit consists of several items and mementos from the old school, including textbooks, a yearbook, photographs and a librarian’s uniform. “This exhibit will help people foster a better appreciation of history, whether it’s their own history or somebody else’s,” said Bryan Truzzie, historic sites manager with the Chesterfield County Parks and Recreation Department. The Chesterfield County Museum is at 6813 Mimms Loop in the county government complex. Hours are Tuesday-Friday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m., and Saturday, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Admission is free.
