Capital Region Workforce Centers Offer Free Services For Residents

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, VA – Chesterfield County has two full-service workforce centers that provide free employment assistance as part of the Capital Region Workforce Partnership (formerly known as the Capital Area Training Consortium). The two Chesterfield workforce centers are located at 7333 Whitepine Road, (804) 271-8510, and 6301 Midlothian Turnpike, (804) 675-9910. Both locations offer resource centers with Internet access, telephones, fax and copy machines, and résumé-building software. Services available include career counseling, skills testing, computer workshops, and one-on-one assistance with résumés, interviews and cover letters. Additionally, young people can learn about careers, either through career exploration programs or on-the-job training. Financial aid information is also available. “This partnership exists to help citizens access information about the labor market and how to find a job,” says Rosalyn Key-Tiller, director of the Capital Region Workforce Partnership. “The centers also benefit from a number of onsite partner agencies, including representatives from the Virginia Employment Commission, the Department of Rehabilitative Services, community colleges and other adult education programs, all of whom offer invaluable assistance in searching for a new job or providing job training.” The Capital Region Workforce Partnership consists of the counties of Charles City, Chesterfield, Goochland, Hanover, Henrico, New Kent and Powhatan, and the city of Richmond. The most recent employment transition center to open as part of the regional effort is in Henrico County, at 4060 Innslake Drive. Residents of the seven counties and the city of Richmond may use any of the centers on a walk-in basis. For more hours or more information, call the centers at the above numbers, or visit www.vawc.virginia.gov.
