  • CAA Men’s Basketball Co-Players of the Week

Terrance Carter, James Madison, Sr., F, 6-5, 215

Carter averaged 20.0 points and 12.0 rebounds as James Madison split a pair of games last week. The senior forward posted back-to-back double-doubles with 22 points and 12 rebounds in a victory over Radford and 18 points, 12 boards, four assists and four steals in a two-point overtime loss at Big East foe Seton Hall. Carter leads the Dukes in scoring and rebounding.

Eric Maynor, VCU, Jr., G, 6-2, 165

Maynor poured in a career-high 30 points, dished out seven assists and grabbed five rebounds to lead VCU to an impressive 79-64 victory at Bradley on Saturday. The junior was 12-of-22 from the floor, drained three treys and only committed one turnover from the point in 36 minutes as the Rams handed BU its largest non-conference loss at home since 2001. It was Maynor’s ninth straight double-digit effort.

  • VCU Extends Winning Streak To Five With Victory At Bradley: VCU extended its winning streak to five with an impressive 79-64 victory at Bradley on Saturday. The Rams (8-3), who avenged a home BracketBusters loss to the Braves a year ago, handed BU its biggest defeat in a non-conference home game since the 2001 NIT. The loss was also just the fifth for Bradley in 36 non-conference home games under coach Jim Les. VCU was led by junior guard Eric Maynor, who scored a career-high 30 points and dished out seven assists.
  • Lighting Up The Scoreboard: James Madison is averaging 85.4 points per game this season, which is 7.5 ppg more than any other CAA team. The Dukes, who have topped the 80-point mark in seven of their nine contests, scored 110 in a two-point overtime loss at Seton Hall on Saturday and also had 100 in a season-opening win over Siena. JMU leads the CAA in FG percentage (51.4%) and 3-point FG percentage (42.1%) and ranks second in FT percentage (73.0%). Despite having their five-game winning streak snapped at SHU, JMU’s 7-2 start is its best since 1988-89.
  • CAA In Non-Conference Play: The CAA has posted a 57-54 (.514) record in non-conference action through the first month of the season. The league has combined for an impressive 34-10 mark at home and is a solid 8-6 on neutral courts, but is 14-38 on the road. Eighteen losses have come against squads from the ACC, Big East, Big Ten and SEC and nine were against teams in the Top 25.
  • Two CAA Teams In Mid-Major Top 25 Poll: A pair of CAA teams are ranked in the latest Mid-Major Top 25 poll released by CollegeInsider.com on Dec. 24. George Mason is the top CAA team at No. 5 followed by VCU at No. 11.
