The Petersburg Area Art League announces its upcoming February 2009 exhibit.  Burning Bridges features the artwork of Petersburg resident Aimee Joyaux.  Aimee is an award- winning artist who has shown her paintings, sculpture, and photography throughout the United States.  Aimee is an art educator, having recently been the Visual Arts department chair at the Appomattox Regional Governor’s School in Petersburg. In this group of work Aimee Joyaux is responding to the destabilizing sensation of current events- economic, political, social, and environmental.  Painting is the artist’s way of collaborating with the whirlwind of 24/7 news coverage.

Burning Bridges opens with a reception on Friday, February 13th, from 6 to 9 PM.  The reception is free and open to the public.  This event coincides with the monthly Friday for the Arts! celebration in Old Towne, Petersburg.  Burning Bridges will be on display through Sunday, March 8th, and can be seen during regular PAAL hours.

PAAL is excited to present the first of their “Gallery Talks” on Sunday, February 15th at 4 PM.  Aimee Joyaux will be on hand to talk about her work.  This event is also free and open to the public.  PAAL is hoping to make this an ongoing program, changing the presentation monthly with the exhibits.
