‘Buddy Up’ program offering free pet adoptions to service members, veterans this week

Active duty and retired members of the U.S. Armed Forces can adopt a dog or cat this week free of charge, thanks to a unique partnership.

On the eve of Veteran’s Day, Henrico Police is partnering with Ring Dog Rescue this week to provide service members and veterans with canine and feline companions as part of a new program.

The department’s ‘Buddy Up’ program runs from November 9th through the 15th and aims to provide free pet adoptions to active duty and retired members of the U.S. Armed Forces. Each animal adopted will be spayed or neutered and vaccinated at no cost.

All adoptions will take place at the Henrico County Police Animal Shelter located at 10421 Woodman Road in Glen Allen. Veterans can stop by anytime this week between 10:00 AM and 4:30 PM.

For more information about this special program, visit the Henrico Animal Shelter website or call 804-727-8801.
