Bridge work closes parts of Dock Street
Crews are installing new ties to an overhead bridge.
Dock Street will be closed off between 15th and 17th streets. Rail crews are doing overhead bridge work.
This is causing heavy delays during rush hour, as drivers are being re-routed off Dock Street onto Main Street.
CSX Transportation requested a permit to close this stretch of Dock Street. Crews are installing new ties to an overhead bridge.
The detours are causing some significant backups, making it difficult for people to get through Shockoe Bottom.
The bride work is expected to be completed by Thursday.
This news is probably too late for most of you but at least you can avoid the area this evening and tomorrow. You might want to avoid it on Friday just in case they don’t finish things up but that’s my pessimistic nature talking.
