Astronaut Leland Melvin will share his experiences as an astronaut and discuss his recent mission to the International Space Station, during a presentation at the University of Richmond Robins Center, Sunday, April 13, from 2pm to 4 pm. Area students are invited to join students from all over central Virginia at this event. Following the presentation, there will be a brief question-and answer-session.

“Reaching for the Stars” began in October, 2006, when more than 400 children of Richmond, Chesterfield, Petersburg, Henrico and surrounding areas first met with Leland. He wanted to inspire others to dream and carry out those dreams through math, science and of course eating their green beans.

It gives children a chance to witness Leland’s personal journey as an astronaut, and the preparation and launch of Atlantis STS-122.

There is no admission fee. Children will receive free posters, stickers,

pencils and bags compliments of NASA-Langley.
