Bella Nathanson, a sixth-grader at Albert Hill Middle School, is the 2013 Richmond Public Schools Spelling Bee champion. Nathanson captured the title at the district-wide competition held last month at Mary Munford Elementary School.
Students from throughout the district competed for the title, with 33 advancing to the final rounds at Munford. Nathanson, 12, correctly spelled the word “Siberian” to win this year’s bee.
Nathanson will now compete at the Central Regional Spelling Bee scheduled for March 9 at 1 p.m. at the Library of Virginia.
William Barron, a fifth-grader at Munford, placed second at this year’s event.
