5 Things for Teens: A double dose of festivals and performances and a single dose of volunteering

Why, is it still raining? Why? Where are you summer?! And why are you not here yet? Anyway, here are five things to do this weekend.

1. Lewis Ginter Spring Plantfest

If you, like I, yearn for the beauty of summer weather; then have no fear! For the closest thing to the likeness of summer is flowers and gardens! I appreciate flowers, they remind me of summer…and no school… and no responsibility. Hopefully it won’t rain this weekend. Let’s cross our fingers for clear skies and summer weather.

2. RVA East End Festival: The Gift Of Music

More finger crossing and outdoor things. If it hasn’t been emphasized enough that the inaugural East End Festival is happening this weekend and is going to be amazing. There will be appearances by both the Richmond Symphony and No BS Brass Band! I cannot express this enough: You (yes, you) Don’t want to miss this. I expect to see you there. The best bio writer in the world; Susan Howson has unlocked the schedule for the whole event.

3. Oddisee with Good Compny and Radio B

Strange Matter has built a reputation of having good food and good shows. Their sweet potato tater tots have mostly been the biggest hit from what I’ve heard. Now, I have not actually attended any of the live shows there yet, but that is all gonna change because of this show. Oddisee is one of the best rappers that I have ever heard. So let’s support some talent, why not, right? And even if you don’t like his music, there are always those tater tots.

4. Maple and Vine

I haven’t been to Firehouse theatre for a live performance either but I am hopeful to go soon. From reading the general gist of Maple and Vine, I will say that it already reminds me of a story that one of my elderly relatives would tell me but would forget that they had told me the story before and would forget major details within the story. Anyway, if you’re free and tired of the humidity then come to this show. Here’s our review.

5. Evergreen Cemetery Cleanup

If you or a student that you may know, want or need to volunteer somewhere–this is your shot. If you also love being outside, love meeting new people and learning about history–then this is your shot. If you don’t agree with either of the statements above, but you just need to get out of the house–this is also for you. Help make our city beautiful again and clean up some graves.
