On Friday, June 6, audiences of all ages should prepare for awesomeness when “Kung Fu Panda” opens at the Science Museum of Virginia’s Ethyl IMAX DOME. Moviegoers everywhere will get a ‘kick’ out of this action-packed family comedy.

“Kung Fu Panda” has been digitally re-mastered into the unparalleled image and sound quality of The IMAX Experience through IMAX DMR (Digital Re-mastering) technology. With crystal clear, larger than life images and state-of-the-art digital surround sound, IMAX puts audiences in the movie for the most “immersive” cinematic experience around. The film will debut concurrently with the nationwide release in conventional theatres from DreamWorks Animation.

Enthusiastic, big and a little clumsy, Po (Golden Globe nominee Jack Black) is the biggest fan of kung fu around…which doesn’t exactly come in handy while working every day in his family’s noodle shop. When he’s unexpectedly chosen to fulfill an ancient prophecy, Po’s dreams become reality and he joins the world of kung fu to study alongside his idols, the legendary Furious Five: Tigress (Angelina Jolie); Crane (David Cross); Mantis (Seth Rogen); Viper (Lucy Liu); and Monkey (Jackie Chan) — under the leadership of their guru, Master Shifu (Dustin Hoffman).

But before they know it, the vengeful and treacherous snow leopard Tai Lung (Ian McShane) is headed their way, and it’s up to Po to defend everyone from the oncoming threat. Can he turn his dreams of becoming a kung fu master into reality? Po puts his heart into the task, and the unlikely hero ultimately finds that his greatest weaknesses turn out to be his greatest strengths.

DreamWorks Animation Presents “Kung Fu Panda,” a Paramount Pictures release directed by John Stevenson and Mark Osborne. The story is by Ethan Reiff & Cyrus Voris. The screenplay is by Jonathan Aibel & Glenn Berger. The producer is Melissa Cobb. This film has been rated PG for sequences of martial arts action.
