Cool to Be Smart

The Petersburg City Public Schools is proud to announce the placement of our first billboard in the city honoring some of our students who have shown that “it’s cool to be smart.”

These students get good grades and know what they want to be when they grow up, but they are also respected by their peers and keep up with the latest trends. During the next few months, their portraits and some fun facts about these students will be posted around Petersburg, in schools and elsewhere, as an inspiration and encouragement to their peers.

The billboard is located on S. Crater Road, just south of the railroad overpass, on the west side, across the street from the Mad Italian Restaurant.

The Cool to Be Smart campaign was suggested by Dr. James M. Victory, Superintendent of Petersburg City Public Schools, and has succeeded through the relationship that the PCPS has with community volunteers. Its graphic design was put together by Petersburg residents Sandra Dorst and Christy Dorman.
