VMFA Pop-Up Shop opens at Stony Point Fashion Park

One of the nation’s best museum gift shops just popped up at the local mall.

The newest retailer at Stony Point Fashion Park is a Virginia Museum of Fine Arts (VMFA) pop-up shop, located near the entrance of Saks Fifth Avenue and adjacent to Anthropologie. The VMFA Pop-Up Shop opened October 14th and will remain open until the end of the year.1

“Since the museum reopening in 2010, the VMFA shop has been managed by a professional retail staff and is among the top 10 percent grossing art museum shops in the nation,” said VMFA Shop Manager Michael Guajardo in a released statement. “Last year, the shop grossed $3.3 million and the team continues to work on physical as well as virtual sales strategies to better serve the public.”

The new location comes after the museum updated its online shop, adding items, enhancing the mobile experience, and improving the search. The web improvements will debut in early 2014.

The VMFA Pop-Up carries items suited for various ages as well as best-selling merchandise like: jewelry made by local and international artists, art and children’s books, educational toys, house wares, locally and internationally made scarves, and more.

The pop-up shop will also carry merchandise related to the upcoming Hollywood Costume exhibit that opens November 9th. Exhibit merchandise will include Harry Potter capes and glasses, Batman capes and masks, tiaras, puzzles, and books.

The VMFA Pop-Up Shop is located at the Stony Point Fashion Park near the entrance of Saks Fifth Avenue until December 31st. Pop-up hours are the same as Stony Point’s: 10:00 AM – 9:00 PM (Monday – Saturday) and 12:00 – 6:00 PM (Sunday).
