From the Virginia Historical Society:

Join the Virginia Historical Society (VHS) and Freeman’s for Collector’s Eye: An Institute on American Design on Saturday, March 19, at 2:30 p.m. Guest speakers Dr. Diane Jacobsen and Lynda Cain will lead this seminar-styled institute on American art and furniture. Dr. Jacobsen is a distinguished scholar and art collector, from whose private collection The Art of Seating: 200 Years of American Design exhibition is curated. Freeman’s specialists will ask participants to guess the value of the highlights and award prizes to the top “appraiser.” The afternoon will conclude with a cocktail reception at 5:30 p.m.

Institute admission includes class fees, reception and admission to The Art of Seatingexhibition, on display through April 17 at the VHS.

Admission for VHS members: $150. Admission for nonmembers: $175.
