Traveler Series debuts at Balliceaux

An early evening event, celebrating music and traditions that have traveled through space and time to expand the bandwidth of our RVA-2015 ears and hearts.

From the press release:

There’s a new music series – the Traveler Series! Episode 1 is next week, Tues March 31 at Balliceaux.

Welcome Miramar, who brings their Bolero sound. Bolero is a slow-tempo, romantic Cuban-origin music that made its way to Puerto Rico by the 1930s [the same time period that most Richmanian Ramblers songs were becoming popularized, but I digress]. Eventually Rei Alvarez of Miramar would be influenced by Bolero music while raised in Puerto Rico, and bring Bolero to life here Richmond.

Q: What in the….is the Traveler Series?
A: An early evening event, celebrating music and traditions that have traveled through space and time to expand the bandwidth of our RVA-2015 ears and hearts. A featured food or drink, an artist conversation, a monkey. Often hosted by Richmanian Ramblers.

If you’re looking for consistency out of the series, hold your horses already. We are taking it one episode at a time. Day of the week, time, & venue are subject to change. And with a baby Mathews on the way, there will likely be some off-months for Richmanian Ramblers.
