Among the 15 contestants competing on the upcoming season of Project Runway is Richmonder designer Angela Bacskocky.

“From as early as I can remember I’ve made my own clothes, either for myself or someone else,” Bacskocky (botch-kose-kee) said on her Project Runway profile. “As a teenager, I was in a rock band, and I loved making stage costumes and super funky looks for myself and the boys in the band. It occurred to me somewhere in that time that I liked planning our onstage look more than actually playing the music! I left the band and enrolled in art school.”

Bacskocky graduated from VCU in 2009 with a BFA in Fashion Design. During that time she also studied at Central Saint Martins School of Art and Design in London.

In 2011, she founded her own eponymous label, selling clothing, hand bags, and necklaces. She said that her designs are often “vintage-inspired” and use leather, her favorite material.

Here’s video of Bacskocky’s showing off her home, along with some of her favorite items:

Project Runway premieres on July 18th at 9:00 PM on Lifetime.
