Remember Cloverleaf?

Guys, remember Cloverleaf? We scored this awesome set of photos from the now-exploded, then-abandoned Cloverleaf Mall. This place is deeply steeped in my, and probably your, childhood memories. Remember the times!

  1. My memories are so hazy, but I do remember going to see the Land Before Time there. My mom liked it so much she did not protest when I wanted to go to JC Penneys afterwards and buy a commemorative stuffed dinosaur.

My first job was in the candy store in the food court.

They’re tearing down Cloverleaf, eh? I never spent too much time there – most of the (minimal) mallratting I did was at Chesterfield Towne Center. Its good to see there are plans for the site and that it won’t just be sitting idle. I think that place would have made an *awesome* airsoft arena though…

I was there for opening day in summer 1972. My first job at Sears, right before heading out to college at JMU. I worked retail at 4 different stores at that mall early in my working life.

Could have been a neat part of a new light rail station.

  6. Oh, crap. I’m twelve years old and stoned. Again!

ahhh, the memories! I worked at Thalhimers (& then “Hechts”) there whenever I was home on break from JMU 1988-90. Who remembers Orange Julius from the ’80’s? LOL

  9. I also saw Land Before Time there! But, my favorite was going to have lunch at the Ruby Tuesday’s. Man I loved that black bread and honey butter.

Thanks for posting, It’s been a long time since I’ve seen those fancy pink floors.

  10. Amazing. I’ve always wanted to go exploring inside there!
