From 10am to 12pm this Saturday (July 18th) the Secretary of Health and Human Services for Virginia will be heading up a state-wide set of “simultaneous conversations devoted to reducing Virginia’s poverty rate and increasing economic opportunity for all.”
All state residents are invited to go to participating community colleges (and other locations) near them to take part. If you have an idea or solution for reducing poverty in your area, you’ll be given two minutes to pitch it.
Those in the Richmond area can either stop by the City Council Chamber at City Hall (900 E. Broad Street) or The Gallery in Georgiadis Hall at the J. Sargeant Reynolds Parham Campus (1651 E. Parham Road).
For those who can’t make it, they are invited to send their ideas to poverty@governor.virginia.gov.
Or, if you don’t want to do that, leave your idea in the comments here. We’d be happy to send these guys a nice long list of suggestions from our readers.
