Meet the men and women who Drive Richmond

Everyone who rides the bus has a story. So do the bus drivers.

GRTC bus drivers are the subject of the new online exhibit Driving Richmond: Stories and Portraits of GRTC Operators, which features photos of several drivers along with interview excerpts, meant to provide insight into Richmond from those who have driven its history and streets.

The multimedia project was created by Michael Lease, Benjamin Thorp, and Laura Browder.1 The exhibit was briefly on display at the RVA Street Art Festival last month, and is available to view online.

I’m so glad this exhibit found a permanent home online. I really treasured it at the RVA Street Art Fest. I get angry at RVA car drivers all the time for being dangerous & generally not giving a damn about pedestrians/stop signs/red lights and crosswalks–but GRTC bus drivers are the best!!
