March is like the preview for Festival Season—spring things starting to pop up and St. Patrick’s Day rolling through our lives. This March will come in like a lion and go out like a really tired lion.

Virginia Horse Festival

Horseman or horsewoman? That doesn’t mean a hybrid of the two, it means…oh I give up. If you don’t know what it means, you don’t want to go to this festival, where you’ll see wild horses trained, breeds judged, classes taught, and more.

Virginia Union University Fine Arts Festival

Come to VUU to experience the finest of their fine arts creators. Performing arts, visual arts, the art of love (just kidding) (I think), you’ll have a chance to peruse it all.

Oyster Roast and Festival

You had us at “Oys…” because we figured “…ter” would follow but we didn’t want to wait around because we were too busy getting tickets. This’ll be a very green event, as it supports Virginia Green Tourism.

Mozart Festival

We have a lot of love for the Mozart Festival, because it’s just about the coolest idea we’ve ever heard of. It’s like if beautiful music were a pop-up shop, and that pop-up shop overtook Carytown.

GhanaFest RVA

Celebrate Ghana’s independence while also improving your mind-grapes with knowledge about Ghanaian culture and food (everyone’s favorite part of culture). This three-day event has all sorts of things for the whole family, and is a welcome break from our boring American lives.

Craftsmen’s Classic™ Art & Crafts Festival

Don’t try to call THIS festival a mere craft show. The Craftsmen’s Classic™ brings in hundreds of talents from all over the country, many of whom will demonstrate ON THE SPOT how they do what they do.

St. Paddy’s Palooza

Innsbrook’s St. Patrick’s Day festival includes everything one should include: music, Irish dancers, food, face-painting, a hot air balloon, and more.

Shamrock the Block

Join an alarming number of people on the Boulevard to celebrate how Irish some of them are, and also to celebrate beer. Do not wear anything you can’t wash thoroughly, and please be as responsible as you can possibly be.

Church Hill Irish Festival

The antidote to your typical Irish Festival, Church Hill Irish Festival has…OK a lot of the same stuff, but somehow carries a more sophisticated air. Family fun is encouraged, with its own sober section (sober in alcohol consumption, not sober in temperament) at this 30-year-old Church Hill tradition.
