Snow Panda’s Ombak Mixes: 6. Bushido

The intergalactic Samurai outpost is under attack! The alarm sounds as enemy ships plummet through the atmosphere and unleash their fury. Everyone on the ground runs in slow motion from the explosions. The destruction is strangely beautiful.

Each day for a week, we’ve released one track from Snow Panda’s Ombak mixes. This is the final installment of the series and tonight Snow Panda will perform with Ombak at Cous Cous. Today’s track is “Bushido.”

Snow Panda says:

I recorded some of Ombak live at Cous Cous one evening and I thought Brian Jones drumming was just so damn savage that I had to include on something.  It felt like war drums in the best possible way.  The battle breaks and once again you’re left with the calm.  Bushido means “Way of the Warrior”, and was also inspired by a very early Ombak poster that had Hooten dressed up as a samurai warrior.

Ombak’s Bryan Hooten says:

The intergalactic Samurai outpost is under attack! The alarm sounds as enemy ships plummet through the atmosphere and unleash their fury. Everyone on the ground runs in slow motion from the explosions. The destruction is strangely beautiful.

RVAJazz says:

There’s a bit of the melody from “As Rome Burns,” the guitar line from the end of “Listen to the World,” and a looped heavy drum beat. A bass and trombone unison underpins the whole thing.

Ombak and Snow Panda perform together tonight, Wednesday, October 28, at Cous Cous. View event details.
