Gabby Douglas wears Lex’s of Carytown dress to BET Awards
Thought the Olympian looked good winning at the recent BET Awards? It was the work of a Carytown store.

Gold medal gymnast and Virginia Beach native Gabby Douglas wore a dress bought at Lex’s of Carytown to last Sunday’s BET Awards where she won Sportswoman of the Year and the Youngstars Award.
Did you hear who dressed Gabby Douglas and her sisters for the BET awards? Yep, we did!!!!! pic.twitter.com/RRYxqrgzHz— Lex's of Carytown (@LexsofCarytown) July 1, 2013
“Her mother and her two sisters and her brother came in,” said Gigi Wall, manager at Lex’s of Carytown. “They wanted a fun and young look, but also classic and tasteful.”
What piqued their attention was a black and white Sherri Hill on a store mannequin. Douglas’s mother texted images of the dress to her daughter and “we got one of the sisters to try it on for Gabby,” Wall said.
The store manager said the entire family was a dream to deal with it. “They were very polite and awesome,” Wall said. She added that the store was excited to help the famous athlete because “we were all ‘Team Gabby’ during the Olympics.”
Lex’s of Carytown is located at 3020 W. Cary Street.
