Cashore Marionettes

Yeah, that’s right. Marionettes. Way to start things off awesomely, Virginia Rep! This world-renowned marionette company will bring two different productions to Richmond: Life in Motion and Simple Gifts. Pick your favorite, or go nuts and see both–because, why not? I mean, come on! Marionettes!

Here’s a little preview of what you’ll see…

  • October 2nd – 13th
  • $15
  • Recommended for ages 4 and up

‘Twas the Night Before Christmas

This sure-to-be charming musical follows Clement Moore (yes, SPOILER ALERT, that one) as he struggles to write a very special Christmas poem. There will be joy. There will be holiday cheer. There will be…Santa.

(And a brunch/sing-along with Snow Bear on November 30th, December 7th, and December 21st. Or join him for tea on December 14th. See website for times and pricing.)

  • November 29th – December 29th
  • $20
  • Recommended for ages 4 and up

Harriet Tubman and the Underground Railroad

Your elementary school-aged kids have probably heard of Harriet Tubman, but this dramatic tribute to this American hero will give them a deeper understanding of the times in which she lived and how her courage saved hundreds (and changed the world).

  • January 31st – February 9th
  • $15
  • Recommended for ages 7 and up

Shrek, The Musical

You can’t really lose with this one because, see, it’s Shrek, but all up in your kids’ faces instead of on a screen. There’s no way they won’t love it.

  • March 14th – April 27th
  • $30
  • Recommended for ages 4 and up

Go, Dog, Go!

Based on P.D. Eastman’s classic book about canine adventures, this fun musical would be a great first trip to the theat-uhhhh for your little ones–or just a fun time for anyone in your family who likes slapstick humor and “riotous extravaganza[s].”

  • July 11th – August 3rd
  • $15
  • Recommended for ages 3 – 8
