Celebrate Mother Earth this Saturday at the Earth Day Festival

It’s a party for Mother Earth this Saturday during the Richmond Earth Day Festival!

Thousands will celebrate Mother Earth this weekend by eating local food, drinking local beer and wine, and learning about the latest and best in environmentally friendly products during the 2013 Richmond Earth Day Festival this Saturday.

Attendees can learn about energy-efficient home supplies, eco-friendly lawn care, and peruse items from vendors offering environmentally friendly arts and crafts. There will also be an area where local artists will create large-scale sculptures using recycled materials.

Local food producers and farmers will be on hand, as will representatives from local wineries.

For those who want a break from walking, River City Segs will offer Segway rides. There will also be coordinated group bike rides from the festival and area bicycle experts on hand.

Several activities for kids of all ages will be provided by Backyard Farmer and the Virginia Center for Latin American Art, including: gardening activities, games made out of repurposed materials, and eco-friendly art projects.

The 2013 Richmond Earth Day Festival takes place on Saturday, April 20th from 11:00 AM – 5:00 PM at the 17th Street Farmers’ Market. Admission is free.
