Art Works calls for cycling art

Show will open on September 18th so you have time to create.

Art Works is getting ready for the Cycling Championships and wants to see some artistic impressions of the sport.

Coming in September, 2015 – The World Road Cycling Championships (Worlds) comes to Richmond. What is the Worlds? It’s only cycling’s pinnacle event and it’s happening in our hometown.

Artists start making your art now. You have only 167 days until the Worlds begins!

Details? Well, in Art Works’ main gallery, we will be hosting an All Media art show with a bicycling theme. Greig Leach, the official Worlds’ artist will juror the show.

This is Art Works’ first ever “sports” exhibit.

Submitting your work:
You can submit up to three (3) entries.
The artwork must depict some aspect of bicycling, a bicycle, a part of a bicycle, a bicycler.
Work can be realistic, abstract, found objects, illustrative, photographic, etc.
The media can be anything – paintings, sculptures, photography, mixed media, collage…you get the idea.
The entry fee is $10 per piece.
All artwork needs to be for sale and original artwork (sorry no prints or giclées of an original.)
There will be cash prizes and awards

The show will open September 18th – a week earlier than our usual 4th Friday event with a special reception. Then another reception on 4th Friday – September 25th. Thousands of cyclist will be in town not including the World’s staff and tourist.

So get your imagination in gear. Let’s show the Worlds what Richmond art is all about! ‘Cause that’s how we roll!

Glenda, Paula, Jessie and Lena
