This year’s festival will examine the critical and unique role played by black women in the struggle for freedom and equality with a line-up of films and an opening night panel celebrating black women who honor that role fiercely.

The theme is borrowed from Anna Julia Cooper’s assertion “only the Black woman can say when and where I enter, in the quiet, undisputed dignity of my womanhood, without violence and without suing or special patronage, then and there the whole…race enters with me.”

The venue is fully accessible, and free off-street parking is available in the lot adjacent to the library or in the Hovey Field parking lot on the North side of Lombardy Street.
