Developer Purchases 70 Acre Tract Along West Broad Street at Goochland Border

Progress is continuing its relentless march westward in Short Pump. Developer Bob Atack announced last week that he had closed on a 70-acre parcel along West Broad Street for $6.75 million in cash. The land is bounded by the Goochland County line to the west and Interstate 64 to the north. Its development will extend the wave of growth that has washed over the Short Pump area over the past decade and seen verdant farmland sold off to make way for homes, stores and parking lots.

Former Circuit City Office Building Back in Hands of Local Owners

A Western Henrico office building that was once home to Circuit City is now in the hands of local owners.
Diversified Realty Ventures and Markel/Eagle joined forces to purchase Deep Run III for $12.4 million. The 382,570-square-foot building at 9954 Mayland Drive is vacant and will be renovated.

Innsbrook One Step Closer to Being Redeveloped as Urban Mixed Use Center

One of Innsbrook’s largest property owners has taken a major step toward transforming the suburban office park into a more urban environment. Highwoods Properties has submitted a zoning application that would allow the firm to develop new office towers, apartment buildings, retail shops and streets on the 188 continuous acres it owns in Innsbrook, which accounts for about a third of the park.

Shopping Center Purchased, New Owner Announces Second Phase Businesses

A local real estate firm has purchased a Short Pump shopping center and plans to begin construction on the second phase this month. The Rebkee Company recently purchased The Corner at Short Pump from The Archon Group for an undisclosed amount. The 41-acre site is anchored by a newly-built Kroger grocery store, which is currently the only tenant of the development.
