"You can bring your baddest, but it ain't bad enough."

Elby Brass from Fredericksburg, VA, seem to have a thing. Drum and bugle corps meets New Orleans, rock meets ska meets funk. Quirky, loud, and heavy on the vocals, they look and sound more like a marching brand than a brass band as we know it (due in large part to their military band uniforms and their choice of percussion instruments). Their vocal songs feature Cab Calloway-like shouts from the band (or think Squirrel Nut Zippers), and their darker instrumental pieces are not unlike something we'd hear from Richmond's own No BS! Brass.

They played last week at Broad Appetit and return on Friday to play The Triple with Palominos. Will you be there?

View event details

Ho there, reader of RSS feeds!
