Mom Kindness 101

Mother's Day is the queen of all kindness opportunities -- the big enchilada if you will. It is more than a Hallmark card scheme or the busiest restaurant day of the year, it is your chance to let her know she is indeed a positive force in your life, you know, since she gave you life or chose you for her own and all.

Ask Richmond Proper: On celebrating Mother’s Day

A reader writes: is it proper for dads to celebrate Mother's Day for the mothers of their own children? My dad dismisses this and refuses to wish my mom a happy Mother's Day, saying "She's not my mother." Which is ridiculous.

Moms love brunch

C'mon now, don't be an ingrate. Treat Mom to a lovely brunch! No matter what Mom is in the mood for, you'll find a local restaurant that will make this Mother's Day much more delicious than the bowl of Ramen you cooked for her last year.

Mother’s Day 2011: Keeping it posi

I think the best lesson my mother has taught me is the value of having a positive mental attitude. Sure, it sounds a little Oprah-y, but bear with me.

Local flower shops

If there's one thing moms love it is brunch. But if you fail to score a sweet brunch reservation, you can always fall back on flowers. Lucky for us, Richmond has a plethora of local flower shops from which to choose.
