2013 ie start-up competition

Next week, 16 fledgling companies will compete for a $10,000 cash prize in the [2014 i.e.* Start-Up Competition][(http://www.ie-rva.org/contest/start-up-contest-2014/). The winner will also receive six months free office space at New Richmond Ventures, $3,500 worth of IT strategy and implementation from Imagine Simplicity, and six months of “community membership” at 804RVA.

Members of each company will pitch their business to a panel of judges who will decide the winner at a public event on Thursday, April 17th at Richmond CenterStage. Audience members will cast votes for the People’s Choice Award, which earns the recipient a $2,500 cash prize.

So what do these companies do? We asked founders to describe how their businesses began, what their business does, and how they’d spend the $10,000 prize.
