Kickers Prediction Game of Awesome Round 16 – Semi-final Addition

Prior to every home game a panel of so called experts will predict the outcome of the Richmond Kickers game. Each expert receives 1 point for each correct prediction. At the end of the season the winner gets a trophy and pack of gum. – Matt Myers is the official winner.

This Saturday at 7:00 PM it’s the Semi-final game of the USL Playoffs. There is a more thorough look at the game here, so today we’re focusing strictly on the predictions. Also we need to give Matt Meyers of the Red Army a hearty round of applause as he took the title of Champion of Kickers Prediction Game of Awesome inaugural edition.

This is a battle between #4 Richmond Kickers and #8 Harrisburg City Islanders but number #8 beat #1 so they might be feeling might. On the other hand they haven’t beaten Richmond this year and have a dismal record against them historically. The most important thing for any Richmond fan to know is that you need to get to the stadium and you need to Stand Up For Richmond. Follow that link and you could win a spiffy Kickers home jersey.

Game preview is here , regular tickets are here, but if you’re feeling loud and want to stand with Section O you can get in for $5.

RVANews Soccer Guru

Richmond-Kickers-Logo Third time’s a charm is a saying. A saying that didn’t work for Harrisburg the third time the two teams met. There is no fourth time’s a charm saying. Harrisburg spent every last bit of luck to get past Orland City. Their luck tank is bone dry and there isn’t a luck station anywhere in this hard luck town. In fact I’ve bought all the Lucky Charms in town so guess what? They’re out of luck, out of goals, and after Saturday will be out on vacation. 10

Red Army

Richmond-Kickers-Logo Last call (unless you plan to drop the $700 to go to Cali on a weeks notice). Saturday we all cheer hard for the Kickers or die trying. We saw last week that this team simply will not give up and finds a way to get it done. They’ll do it again against Harrisburg for the fourth time this year. Red Army, Richmond, you’re up, show one last time that you’re the fans this amazing team deserves. 12

Richmond Kickers

Richmond-Kickers-Logo Harrisburg. Harrisburg. Harrisburg. What can I say? Thanks for beating Orlando so we can have everyone Stand Up for Richmond at City Stadium one more time this season! But, as I mentioned earlier in the season, you never bring me a pineapple which once again that just means doom for you and a Kickers victory. 10

Total Soccer Show

Richmond-Kickers-Logo Kickers win! Richmond will play fair to begin with and give Harrisburg a chance. But if it gets to the 119th minute then Matthew Delicate will enter the game and, of course, immediately score. Also: I predict that thousands of people will Stand Up For Richmond. 10

RVA News Soccer Guru (Richard Hayes): All of Richard’s soccer knowledge comes from playing FIFA on the original Playstation and standing in bars, drinking, and yelling at the television. He also helps run RVA DCU and American Outlaws Richmond Chapter, which mainly involves drinking and yelling at televisions.

Red Army (Matt Myers): Matt was sent off by Leigh Cowlishaw in a summer camp scrimmage as a pre-teen but has not held that against the team. He’s coming to grips with being a relatively old man now after seeing the youngsters in the Red Army and on the Kickers roster. He’s also attended way more matches than he should admit to, especially for having lived in Richmond a total of one out of the last 13 years.

Richmond Kickers (Kickeroo): The Kicker from down under. He doesn’t really like anyone who isn’t a fan of the Kickers. A daredevil who will pretty much try anything and everything but would rather not talk (on the advice from lawyers) about the incident with the scooter and the Flaming Hoop of Death. He’s also sensitive marsupial who enjoys long walks on a dew covered soccer field and watching the sun set behind the goal post. He also shares something with the new Kickers beer, Kick it Hunny: Hops.

Total Soccer Show (Daryl Grove): Daryl is English so every thing he says about footsoccerball naturally carries more weight because he says it a British accent. He is also part of the excellent local radio show and podcast Total Soccer Show that keeps track of all soccer related things in an intelligent and fun way. If you’re not listening to the Total Soccer Show you need to change that post haste.

When Richard isn’t rounding up neighborhood news, he’s likely watching soccer or chasing down the latest and greatest craft beer.
