Pleasant’s Hardware to move west, paving the way for new Whole Foods

Longtime hardware store will move a mile and a half west, taking over a portion of the Motley’s Auctions property.

Pleasant’s Hardware, a Richmond hardware store staple that will celebrate its 100th birthday next year, will have a new location as it begins its second century in business.

The retailer announced today that they will move a mile and a half down West Broad Street and take over a portion of the Motley’s Auctions property at 4402 West Broad Street.

The move will occur sometime next year and allow for Pleasant’s current location to be razed to make way for a new Whole Foods Market, as part of the forthcoming mixed-use Sauer Center.

The Richmond Times-Dispatch has much more on the move, and what it will mean for customers. Read the full article here.
