Northside woman has a snake problem

“I pay taxes, the snake don’t.”

From NBC12:

Green has got a bag of Snake-Away on standby, and has also spread sulfur throughout her lawn. One large snake even stopped it’s journey, right on her front walkway. There are several significant holes in the front lawn of the blighted home, which Green believes are burrowing holes. She says she’s called the city repeatedly about the problem for years.

“What am I supposed to do? Let him bite me? I pay taxes, the snake don’t,” continued Green.

City officials say the house will finally go up for a tax sale in September. Administrators say Virginia law requires a lengthy process, taking years, in order a city to resell a house due to unpaid, back taxes.

The property in question is on Houston Avenue and has been vacant for at least 12 years.
