Mini-golf comes to the Diamond in 2014

The Flying Squirrels hope to fill a mini-golf desert in RVA.

The Richmond Flying Squirrels will offer a nine-hole mini-golf course at The Diamond starting in 2014. The Have Funn, Go Putt course will have nine, six, and three-hole rounds.1

“We’re basically somewhat limited in what we can do in terms of adding” new attractions and fixtures, said Jon Laaser, the team’s director of broadcasting. So the organization has to “maximize the space we have.” The mini-golf course will be located just beyond The Diamond’s first-base side.

Laaser said the grounds crew had the idea to create a mini-golf course “for a couple of years,” but the organization only recently had the funds to go ahead with it.

The course will be baseball-themed and will be available before, during, and after Squirrel’s games. The price for mini-golf play hasn’t been announced.

The mini-golf course is the first of its kind so close to the city’s center.
