Meg’s Miles honors local runner killed by drunk driver
People across the globe will honor a woman recently killed while running.
Runners from around the world are preparing to take part in Saturday’s Meg’s Miles run to honor local runner Meg Menzies who was fatally struck by a drunk driver on Monday morning.
Menzies was a committed runner who had run the Boston Marathon and was a member of the Richmond Road Runners Club.
In addition to honoring Menzies, Meg’s Miles will raise awareness of drunk driving, texting and driving, and the general safety of runners and cyclists. As of Tuesday afternoon, over 7,500 people have pledged to run on Saturday, with one committing to do so in Afghanistan.
Run organizer Brooke Roney wrote on Facebook that she’d update the Meg’s Miles page if she learns of a specific meeting point for local runners.
