Man arrested over alleged threatening text focused on VCU

Hopefully this arrest will prevent similar threats.

A man has been arrested after allegedly sending text messages that referenced the mass shooting at a community college in Oregon last week and warned people to stay away from VCU, according to VCU police.

“With assistance from the Prince William County Police Department, VCUPD detectives interviewed the male suspect, who admitted to sending the text messages in an attempt to anger the man who received it,” the VCU Police Department wrote in a statement this afternoon. “VCU Police do not believe there was a credible threat against the recipient of the text or the VCU community.”
