Local thieves targeting AC units

Call in any suspicious activity.

Sherri and Greg of Springhill are letting the community know about a recent experience they had with a pair of thieves.

About 10 PM last night (Wednesday), 2 men were attempting to take either the copper pipes or the AC compressor units (or both) from next to our house. Fortunately, we interrupted them and they took off without our equipment. Unfortunately, the unit was damaged and we lost all of the refrigerant. We reported this to the police who told us that there has been a lot of this going on around our neighborhoods this spring/summer. Keep a look out – call the police if you see anything, or anyone, sketchy.

Our attempted thieves/accomplished vandals were both white males, one in his 50s wearing dirty painters clothes, one younger (20s?) in darker clothes, carrying a large bag over his shoulder. The older guy was on a bike, drinking from a paper bag – the younger guy referred to him as “Curtis.” They took off north on 20th into the James River Park.

A detective contacted us today and said they’ve been after these guys for awhile and were interested in the fact that we had a pretty good description of them. Stay vigilant, neighbors!

If you spot these bandits, call 9-1-1. You may also provide more information by contacting Police Officer Nixon directly at 804-646-1165.

AC unit pictured is not the one that was damaged and is guarded by landmines, sharks with lasers, vicious dogs, and flesh eating weeds. Same goes for that copper downspout in the background.
