Harvest in Wall Street Journal profile of micro-grocers

If you haven’t checked out their sandwich offerings you need to do so this weekend barring of course snow death.

From WSJ:

Store staffers know most regulars by name and try to speak to everyone who comes in. Mr. Hopcroft encourages them to share recipes and suggest substitutions. “Our standard [greeting] is, ‘What are you making?” Mr. Hopcroft says.

Harvest (1531 W Main St) opened in the Fan in late January of 2014. Their goal was to provide a neighborhood market with a focus on local produce, organic and specialty groceries. About a month ago Harvest opened a butchery in conjunction with JM Stock Provisions out of Charlottesville. The butchery was a tremendous addition and the quality of meat produced by JM Stock is undeniable.

It’s also worth swinging by Harvest on Friday – Sunday because recently they’ve been producing some tremendous sandwiches. On Friday you might luck out and get this beauty.
