Good Morning, RVA: Erin Go Bragh!

Don’t forget to wear green today. Also quickly stock up on bread, milk, bangers, and mash while you’re at it.

Good morning RVA! And Happy St. Paddy’s Day to you all. Make sure and bundle up because it’s an icy wintry doozy out there, with a high of 34°F and occasional snow showers!

Henrico County and Richmond City schools are closed. Huzzah!

Traffic-wise, roads are pretty slick this morning. I-95 north/south will have only one lane open between Belvidere and Boulevard. ALSO, the eastbound center and right lanes of East Broad Street between 5th/6th Streets will be closed beginning today to repair a cave in next to the Hilton Garden Inn in the right travel lane (not a sinkhole).

ICE COOLER (when will it defrost?!)

Richmond, Chesterfield, and Henrico Public Schools are on two hour delay. Hanover Public Schools are CLOSED. More details here.

Around 9,000 Richmond residents lost power last night due to a voltage reduction issue, and a power pole caught on fire. Apparently there are still some of you without power, hang in there!

After much debate, Crimea has formally applied to join Russia today. Many of the Western nations as well as Japan are also preparing to identify Russians to punish with visa bans and asset freezes. Yikes.

It just keeps getting weirder: It’s grown increasingly likely that foul play has occurred on the Malaysian 370 Flight, where investigators are now honing in on the two pilots.

NCAA Tournament starts tomorrow with UVA as a #1 seed and VCU as #5. Ready your brackets!
