Cheats Movement, VMFA release ‘Finding Tomorrow’ trailer

The upcoming series will showcase the experiences and generational knowledge of RVA’s black leadership

The Cheats Movement and the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts have partnered together to create a nine episode series called Finding Tomorrow: Experiences in Black Leadership. Here’s the first trailer for the series:

“I’ve held the idea to do a video project like Finding Tomorrow ever since I watched The Black List: Volume 1 on HBO in 2008/9,” said Cheatham, creator of The Cheats Movement website, in an email. “With the growth and the diverse reach of The Cheats Movement, I felt it was something I could do to highlight the enormous amount of generational knowledge we have within Richmond’s Black Community when it comes to history and leadership.”

Earlier this year, Cheatham shared his idea with friend Darrian Mack, Director of Audience Development at the VMFA. Soon after, the two began working in collaboration with the VMFA to produce the series.

Each of the nine episodes will feature people like Mayor Dwight Jones, artist Hamilton Glass, and VCU professor Tawnya Pettiford-Wates, among others.

Cheatham said Finding Tomorrow will premier in March.
