The final draft of the Richmond Riverfront Plan is now available to the public. Click here to see the final version (PDF).
The Riverfront plan, an offshoot of the 2009 Downtown Revitalization Plan, encompasses 830 acres around the James River. It suggests structural and landscape additions to increase use by citizens and tourists, as well as promote businesses.
From Plan’s introduction:
“Above all else, the Plan redefines the City-River relationship, dramatically expanding both visual and direct physical access to the James River. The Plan maps out a transformation comprised of incremental interventions, some bold and sweeping, and some subtle and strategic; together they describe an enhanced urban landscape.”
The plan will be submitted to the Planning Commission on July 2nd, with City Council expected to act on the proposal in September.
