Evening jogger cut twice by unknown assailant
Incident occurred on the 1500 block of East Main Street about 8:15 p.m.
A woman in her early 20s was jogging in Shockoe Bottom tonight when she was attacked by a man who cut her twice on her arm, according to Richmond police.
Police Capt. Yvonne Crowder said the woman was jogging in the 1500 block of East Main Street about 8:15 p.m. when a man came up behind her, put his hand over her mouth and said, “Don’t scream.”
“She screamed and he cut her twice on the arm,” Crowder said.
The man took off running toward Canal Street. The woman was taken to VCU Medical Center with injuries described as not life-threatening.
The incident is under investigation, but Crowder said authorities do not believe the woman knows her assailant.
