East End Councilwoman Newbille votes in favor of Shockoe redevelopment plan

Councilwoman Newbille was joined by fellow Council members Robertson, Baliles, Graziano and Mosby in support of the proposal.

East End District 7 Councilwoman Cynthia Newbille was one of six city officials who voted for the Shockoe redevelopment plan last night at a five-hour long, jam-packed City Council meeting.

Newbille also proposed an amendment to the city’s existing plan. Her amendment requires a rock-solid financial commitment to fund the slave heritage site before further development can take place. Her amendment passed unanimously.
