GayRVA reports that the LGBT flag that flew outside the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond last June will not be flown again this year. Instead, the flag will have a new home. The bank will donate the flag to the Valentine Richmond History Center next month.

“We are proud that we flew the flag to send the clear message that we do not discriminate in our workplace,” said Richmond Fed President Jeffrey M. Lacker. “Likewise, we’re proud to make this donation so that the flag, and what it symbolizes, can be preserved by the History Center.”

The flag drew national attention last year, with some criticizing the bank’s decision to fly the flag. Others applauded the move.
