7th Annual Shockoe-on-the-Half Shell

Weather is suppose to clear up by Sunday so start planning your day.

The 7th annual Shockoe-on-the-Half Shell festival comes to the 17th Street Farmers’ Market in Shockoe on Sunday September 14th from 12:00 to 5:00 PM. It’s free to enter but as with most festival if you want to partake of the tasty treats or liquid libations you’ll have to fork over cash or credit.

Oysters are one of those foods that fall into the “love em” or “hate em” category. Very few people are neutral about these edible bivalves. This festival gives the lovers a chance to convert the haters because you’ll find the oysters cooked every way imaginable; raw, smoked, grilled, roasted, fried, and on the half shell. The Boathouse, The Savory Grain, Halligan Bar & Grill, The Pig and Pearl, C’est La Vin, are just a few of the restaurants and vendors that will be serving.

Beer, wine, and cider will be available to wash down the food. Live music will keep your feet tapping and I highly recommend catching Andy Vaughn & The Driveline who come on at 3:00 PM.
