More press from Richmond BizSense.com including the very important bit of information that to start the restaurant will only be a takeout spot.

Startup costs are expected to be about $25,000, Isabel said. She and her husband are financing the venture themselves and with the help of a family friend.

As for the name, The Dog and Pig Show is inspired by the couple’s Chinese zodiac signs.

“James is a dog, and I’m a pig,” Isabel said. “It was an early date conversation.”

Dog And Pig Show Cafe is currently re-working the spot at 314 N.  25th Street and plans to bring “simple, but seriously good food”. What’s unique about their menu, which you can check out at the previous link, is that they’re combining southern, Louisiana Creole, and south central Asia without it sounding crazy.

For example there is the Pulled Pork Po Boy which will have soy glazed pork shoulder, spicy mayo, pickled red onions, spicy cucumber on french bread. It’s also exciting to see the work that is going on to remodel the location. The hope is that by mid November they’ll be serving up food to the neighborhood.
