Dave Matthews’ Blenheim wines to be on tap at the Roosevelt

“Our customers are very interested in tasting what is grown and produced regionally. I couldn’t be more excited to feature Blenheim in our new draft wine program,” said Thomas “T” Leggett of The Roosevelt in Richmond, Virginia.

Tap 26 has the brilliant business plan of serving up wine in kegs. This allows for wine to be served at a lower price point but also is more environmentally sound. Read more about the innovation and founder Jon Lintvet at Richmond BizSense.com.

The local connection is that soon you’ll be able to walk into the Roosevelt and order a glass of a Virginia wine on tap from Blenheim Vineyards. Besides being one of the most popular Virginia wines it’s also known for being owned by Dave Matthews of the Dave Matthews Band. Dave purchased the Bleinheim farm in 1999 and planted new grape vines in the old vineyard on the site.

Blenheim Vineyards announced it started releasing its wines in kegs this month. This collaboration between Blenheim Vineyards and Tap26’s Virginia on Draft Barrel Program creates the opportunity for more people to experience and enjoy Blenheim’s wines by-the-glass.

Blenheim Winemaker and General Manager Kirsty Harmon said “kegging our wines increases the accessibility of premium Virginia wines in by-the-glass menus throughout the state and in the District of Columbia. It is also consistent with our commitment to minimize the winery’s impact on the environment and advance the Virginia wine industry more broadly.”

With an increase in awareness and demand for local products; restaurants, caterers and special events producers are asking for premium Virginia wines in kegs to add to their draft wine programs.

“Our customers are very interested in tasting what is grown and produced regionally. I couldn’t be more excited to feature Blenheim in our new draft wine program,” said Thomas “T” Leggett of The Roosevelt in Richmond, Virginia.

Justin Ross from Parallel 38 in Charlottesville was among the first to offer Blenheim on tap. He says, “Blenheim has quickly become a top seller now that it is part of our draft wine program. Matching a high quality, locally sourced product coupled with the sustainability benefits and operational efficiency of pouring wines on tap makes it a win for everyone.”

“We are excited to work with the team at Blenheim Vineyards as part of the Virginia on Draft Barrel Program,” said Jon Lintvet, President of Tap26. “They have a fantastic team, terrific vision and produce beautiful wines a large new audience will have the opportunity to experience for the first time through this program,” added Lintvet.
