The World Beer Festival is a roving event with four stops in 2010, including Brown’s Island this past Saturday.

Set up as a giant outdoor beer tasting, the World Beer Festival provided the opportunity to try small samples from a range or brewers. Presented by FETCH-A-Cure and produced by All About Beer Magazine, the mission of the event is to “educate the public in beer appreciation and beer quality, and to build the local beer community”. The folks behind the taps were certainly ready to talk about their brews and share what they’d brought.

There were two big tents set up, with tables for the brewers inside and out. There were some local and localish guys set up, brewers from all over the country, and a handful of Europeans. Once in the festival with the little plastic cup in hand, all you had to do was ask nicely and you could drink (and appreciate) as many 2 oz. beers as you might want. The $40/$50 tickets kept it from becoming too much of a frat party, though folks were definitely having fun with it all.
