Three shot on Dinwiddie Avenue, one fatally

Occurred last night at 11:16 PM on the 2000 Block of Dinwiddie Avenue.

Richmond Police have issued the following statement.

The Richmond Police Department is in the early stages of a homicide investigation in the city’s south side.

At approximately 11:16 p.m. tonight, officers received a call of a shooting in the 2000 block of Dinwiddie Avenue.

When they arrived, they located three shooting victims. One of the victims, a male in his mid-30s, was pronounced dead at the scene. His name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The other two victims, males in their 20s, were transported to VCU Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

Detectives are collecting evidence and canvassing the area for information. They do no believe this shooting was a random act.
