Liner Notes:
Here are some shows I’m hustling at Balliceaux this week…

DJ Doddie kicks off the week with dance floor inspirations on Monday. Tuesday, normals beware; the outside is brought kicking & screaming to the inside with Ombak. The only band that could play Best Friends Day and The Richmond Folk Festival, The NO BS Brass Band kicks out the jams on Thursday, and Jason Ajemian & The Highlife brings what All About Jazz says, “straddles the divide between the straight-ahead domain and areas of greater freedom with such aplomb that listeners might be left wondering why such categories exist at all” on Friday. Rounding out the week of entertainment options, Soul Power! (with very special guest DJ from Milwaukee, Dave Monroe) lay down the serious funk, soul and R&B on vinyl for dancing, listening, drinking pleasures.

I hope you can make it out sometime. Remember, It’s not the same without you.

On a final note, WRVA reported Saturday that, “tens of hundreds” attended this past weekend’s Richmond Tea Party Convention. By contrast, over 170,000 people attended The Richmond Folk Festival according to early reports.

Now, that is something to celebrate…

NEXT NEW SHOW:10/18/10

All Bopst Show set lists that haven’t been posted (episodes 117-122) will be posted (promise) sometime later this week here. If you hate MySpace (and who doesn’t), look me up on Facebook. I’ll post the track listings there as well.

2 hours of Bopst Show programming airs Sundays, 12-2PM (EST-USA), on KAOS Radio Austin.

Until Next Time:

Stay clean,

6 comments on The Bopst Show: Time Space Warp (Episode 122)

  1. Why was the sound so bad this year at the festival? Every show I saw was full of hums and buzzing, evidenced by the general frustration of the performers, most notably Zakir Hussain. Why go to all the trouble to have such a wonderful festival full of excellent and compelling performers and have the sound be a mess?

  2. I noticed that too, but overall (after some fleeting sound issues), I would say it all sounded pretty good….

  3. ZH actually stopped in the middle of his show, threw his hands up and said “seriously, guys?” referring to the loud feedback that had persisted through much of his one 45 minute set. I’m just saying, if we’re bringing in this renowned a musician, why not give him the best?

  4. I was there and yes, it did suck that it happened, but it was a fleeting annoyance that did impair my enjoyment of the show. Accidents happen.

And his jam with the train is something I will not soon forget…

  5. Chris,

Awesome mix esp. “Evening Star” heard it the first time on WHFS years ago and it blew me away, completely rearranged my concepts of music. It is the song one would hear at the epicenter of the space time continuum.

    Cheers
    S

  6. WHFS formed by musical DNA…
