Artists and Groups in order of appearance: Leif Garrett, Ennio Morricone, Aloe Blacc, Mary McCreary, Fats Waller, The Isley Brothers, Joe Gideon & The Shark, Mutsuhiro Nishiwaki, Funkadelic, Dizzee Rascal, The Kinks, The New Mastersounds, Horace Heller, Magnetic Fields, Naked Raygun, Andre Williams, Zoe & The Minis, Donovan
Liner Notes:
What a pitiful waste Leif Garrett has proven himself to be. Ennio Morricone however is not. He just seems to get better & better. HBO is the best thing ever to happen to Aloe Blacc. I never heard Mary McCreary sing until recently. She’s pretty good. Most people don’t know it, but Fats Waller is a legend. The Isley Brothers never stop making music. Joe Gideon & The Shark sound like Mark E. Smith fronting the White Stripes covering Ken Nordine. Nobody has (as of yet) reinvented Queen better than Mutsuhiro Nishiwaki. Mama? What’s a Funkadelic? Without them there would be no Dizzee Rascal. The Kinks never get the credit they deserve. Everybody in the rock game rips them off. The old is new again with The New Mastersounds. Those who think that murder is never funny have never heard Horace Heller. The title of this week’s show is a lyric from a tune by The Magnetic Fields. Ed Trask’s kids can’t stop singing it. Two things to love about Chicago are Naked Raygun and Andre Williams. Zoe & The Minis prove that the Greeks knew how to rock way back in the 60’s. Donovan is out of his mind.
Here are some shows I’m helping to put on at Balliceaux this week.
Bio Ritmo reminds you that dancing is good for the mind, body & soul this Tuesday night. On Wednesday night, Fight The Big Bull weeds out the sissies so you don’t have to. Both shows are free.
NEXT NEW SHOW: 04/05/10
The complete set list for this week’s show is posted here. All previous show set lists (96 as of this writing) are on my blog. If you hate MySpace (and who doesn’t), look me up on Facebook. I post track listings there as well.
2 hours of Bopst Show programming airs Sundays at it’s new time, 12-2PM (EST-USA), on KAOS Radio Austin.
